My only worry about the submission is that they asked for at least a 3/4 body picture and I don't think this is big enough. The original sketch did have his legs and feet in it, but I screwed up so bad that I had to erase them. But it's my only worry at the moment.

Well, I bought two yaoi mangas yesterday and so I had the urge to make an extremly uke character. I decided to try out for the *Elysian-Academy. Elias is a soot sprite, and the soot sprites are the susuwatari created by Hayao Miyazaki which were featured in "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Spirited Away". I always loved the little dust bunnies, and since they want people to be original, this is what came into my mind. At first, I thought he would be qualified for the hybrid dorm, but since he's a "sprite," I guess he fell into the faery dorm. Maybe this might actually be a club I can get in to. I really like how this came out. it's like, all last night, I was working on the line art and coloring and stuff, and this morning was mainly composed of doing the background and the text. I thought I was only gonna do the lineart last night, but I though, "meh, I'll go ahead and work on it a bit." And the honest truth is, in the lineart, he wasn't in uniform. The coat was actually a gigantic sweater. But, I looked at the uniforms and I was suprised because I thought that our characters could wear whatever they wanted as long as it was their dorm colors, so I had to modify everything on the computer to change him into the coat. And, well they can wear whatever they want, but I would've had to get a picture of him in his uniform up in a month anyways, so why not just do it now? I love how the soot sprites came out. I was practically killing myself over how I would make them, but the "fine smear" brush quickly became my friend and saved my pathetic ass. Anyways, here's info and stuff.

The Patel family of Berkshire as been known for their ability to transform into "soot sprites." Soot sprites are skittish, shy creatures that take the form of a ball of fuzz with two large eyes. The colors of the soot sprites vary depending on the hair and eye color of the humanoid form.

Elias-
Born in Berkshire, England, Elias is the youngest male of the Patel family. Elias knew at a young age about his fondness for attractive older males. His fear of being rejected for this caused him to grow up as a shy young boy, rarely having any friends at all. Elias's mind was always very weak, and was easily manipulated into having intimate, incestuous relationships with his male cousins. His older twin brothers, Lucas and Marcus, eventually found out about the relationships and recommended to their parents that Elias be sent to Elysian Academy (deciding to keep the relationships a secret), in order to protect their dear little brother.

Powers:
Transformation-Elias, as well as other members of the Patel family, has the ability to transform into their soot sprite form. Sometimes, however, it is involuntary, as it can be triggered by a certain action or emotion as well. Some unwillingly transform into their soot sprite form by simply feeling extremely nervous or scared. Elias, however, involuntarily transforms into his soot sprite form by sneezing. In this form, Elias travels by floating, and is incapable of speaking.

Pheromone Manipulation-Elias can release various pheromones that are in the form of a thin, shiny, lavender powder, but sometimes the pheromones take the form of a scent. Depending on which type of pheromone he releases, it can have a different effect each time. Also depending on the type of pheromone released, the dust either floats around in the air like a fog, or it may stick to a surface.
When releasing alarm pheromones, the dust is extremely toxic and can also severely burn if it comes into contact with eyes. The alarm pheromones float in the air and only affect those that try to cause Elias harm.
Territorial pheromones are scent based, and attach to anything Elias considers his. The scent is very sweet and light, and has a very calming effect.
When using releaser pheromones, Elias’' skin is covered in a very thin sheet of a shiny colored powder that releases an attracting scent (different scent than his territorial pheromones). The powder also billows in puffs when Elias comes into contact with anything solid while covered in it. The powder can't be smeared by water or other liquids.
Using trail pheromones, Elias leaves footprints made of the pheromone powder. The prints can take the shape of the bottom of his foot, or the bottom of his shoe, depending on what he’s wearing (if he’s wearing socks, the prints take the form of his foot). The prints can be seen easily in the dark, but there still has to be a little bit of light for them to be seen at all. In his soot sprite form, he just drops a little trail of the powder as he floats.

Empathy-Elias is very good at understanding the feelings of others, but sometimes doesn’t know how to react to them.

Echolocation-Elias can easily locate certain objects in the dark by using echolocation. To do this, he makes a "coo" noise imitating a pigeon. In his soot sprite form, he makes a series of high-pitched "chu" noises.
